Topic I: Food safety is a serious concern in Chinese Society in recent years. According to your
understanding about China’s economic and political systems, do you think China’s economic and
political systems are the root causes of this social problem? Are there any other factors contributing
to the problem of food safety issue in China?
Topic II: Although China has experienced the economic reform and many state-owned enterprises
have been privatized, the major sectors of national economy such as oil and gas monopolies, the
energy and electricity groups, airlines and telecoms, and most of the major banks are still controlled
by the state. This has been largely criticized by foreign countries which are doing trade with China
since the SOE receive large amount of subsidy from government. Do you think that China should let
these sectors experience privatization, such as allowing private and foreign investment in these
sectors? If yes, to what extent they should be privatized? If not, why?
Topic III: Do you agree that China should reform the one-party rule? If so, in your opinion what will
be most suitable mode given China’s historical and current socioeconomic context? If not, why?
