MODERNITY AS MASS CONFORMITY


Much dystopian SF propose visions of a future dominated by conformity to mass culture, Social control is achieved via various means, whether benevolent (via pleasure as in Brave New World) or malevolent (fear and denunciation of all by all as in Nineteen Eighty Four). Explore why mass conformity is perceived as such a potent threat in modernity. Does it matter if the means of social control is ?benevolent? or ?malevolent?? Argue with REFERENCE to at least one of the following novels: Brave New World and Nineteen Eighty Four
