Human Resource Management


Employee Selection, which is an important sub-step of HRM.  The selection process is very important for HR Professionals who are involved in hiring process. It is essential that one understand the skills and abilities that are required in a particular job and determine which candidates have those capabilities. Interviews, reference checks, tests, applications and resumes can all help identify differences among candidates. Employee Selection at the management level entails getting a better understanding of the applicants’ strengths and weaknesses. Combined with a good orientation period, careful selection enables the employer and new personnel to start out on a positive path.   As a Human Resources Officer for one the most decorated Infantry Battalion in the United States Army, I have seen firsthand the positive and negative aspect of the selection process; furthermore, seeing personnel who have not met the KSAO for a specific job. I will elaborate more in my paper and share my experience as seen from thestand point of an HR Professional in the United States Army.
